Little Elm ISD Board of Trustees named Daniel Gallagher the lone finalist for the District’s superintendent during the Board meeting Monday evening.
Mr. Gallagher, current assistant superintendent for Educational Services at Little Elm ISD, is expected to assume the duties of Superintendent after a state-mandated 21-day waiting period.
Mr. Gallagher will succeed Dr. Lowell Strike, who is set to retire in December after serving the students and staff for three years as Little Elm ISD Superintendent and 38 years in public education.
The selection of Mr. Gallagher as lone finalist concludes after an internal search for Dr. Strike’s replacement. “It has been my honor and pleasure to serve alongside Mr. Gallagher for five years,” said Dr. Strike. “He is a servant-leader who has the interest of all in mind as he leads on a daily basis. He is a man of strong integrity and character. Those personal characteristics coupled with great emotional intelligence, a sound knowledge base, and his wide leadership skill sets position him to continue to bring excellence to every corner of our District. His hire is a win for our children and staff in LEISD. The Board made a wonderful choice and I have no doubt the District will be in good hands with Mr. Gallagher as he will continue to strengthen the strong culture so many teachers, staff, and administrators in this fabulous District have worked to build over the last three years. He is centered on living out the core values of this District and supporting our mission of Engaging, Equipping, and Empowering both children and staff,” said Strike.
The Board of Trustees felt an internal search would be in the best interest of the students and staff of the District in order to continue the momentum and culture that is developing district-wide.
“Hiring a superintendent is one of the most important and difficult decisions a school board will ever make,” said Board President, Melissa Myers. “Dr. Strike has shown us how invaluable great leadership is, not only for the academic opportunities we provide our students, but developing great leaders in our staff. The Trustees goal during the search was to allow for consistency, support for the culture of learning established, and a smooth transition for students, staff, and the community. We are confident we have chosen the right person who will continue to lead our District toward our goal of becoming THE Destination District.”
Mr. Gallagher joined Little Elm ISD from Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD where he served as the Director for Elementary Services.
Mr. Gallagher brings great strength in the development and leadership of Professional Learning Communities as well as leadership experience guiding rigor, relevance, and learner engagement in the classroom. Mr. Gallagher served as an elementary principal in both Arlington and Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISDs prior to being named Director of Elementary Services in EMSISD.
Mr. Gallagher received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from The University of Texas at Arlington, a master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Texas Wesleyan University, an ED.S. Specialist in Superintendency from Arkansas State University, and Superintendent Certification from the University of Texas at Tyler.
