The Little Elm ISD Education Foundation is excited to announce that Del Harris, Vice President of the Texas Legends, will emcee their Boots & Bling Fundraising Gala, Dinner and Silent Auction on April 12, at the Tribute at The Colony Golf Club Ballroom.
Del Harris has served as the assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks, as well as head coach for the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. Mr. Harris has been selected to receive the prestigious John W. Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award this May by the Basketball Hall of Fame.
The LEISD Education Foundation will honor this year’s Lobo Honors winners at the event. Earlier this year, the Foundation asked students across the District to submit a letter nominating their favorite teacher, librarian, or instructional coach. The letter had to explain why their nominee is special and how they Engage, Equip, and Empower them to reach their full potential.
In February, the Foundation’s executive board members spent a day reading letters submitted by students. They narrowed it down to nine letters by using a grading rubric. Monday, March 4, during the school day, foundation board members visited the student authors at their campuses and surprised them with a celebration. These teachers, students, and their families will be honored guests of the Education Foundation at this year’s gala. Denise Hanti, LEISD Education Foundation President stated, “The student letters were so heartfelt, and we were so moved by the positive impact the teachers have made in their students’ lives. We are excited to celebrate these teachers.”
The Boots & Bling Gala is the LEISD Education Foundation’s annual fundraising event. Funds raised from this evening will go toward funding teacher grants to inspire learning in the classrooms and will fulfill the mission to: Partner with the community to provide resources that Enrich Teaching, Inspire Learning, and Maximize Innovative Opportunities so that every student in LEISD can realize their full potential.
Little Elm ISD Education Foundation, a non-profit organization, provided over $28,000.00 in teacher grants and student scholarships last year.
