Chavez Destination Imagination Team Falls Short for Global Finals

High Five meets with appraisers after challenge

"We are going to do so much better next year," said Jevin Henson optimistically as he heard the raw scores from the Destination Imagination state tournament in Corpus Christi. Henson, along with four other team members on High Five, competed in the HeadsUp Team and Instant Challenges on Saturday. "My team worked extremely hard since October researching and understanding figure heads on coins around the world. I am so proud of the work they did and how they represented Little Elm ISD in Corpus," said Cecelia Jones, team manager.

High Five competed against 19 other teams across the state in the HeadsUp, improvisational challenge, and finished at the bottom. "We will be back at state next year," said Henson.

Destination Imagination (DI) is an international program that involves 45 US states and 15 different countries, broken down into regional areas. as teams compete at the regional level, certain teams move on to state where the top four teams have a chance to advance to the Global Finals tournament. It is a non-profit, volunteer-led, cause-driven organization with the purpose to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. This is the fourth year to offer DI to students, K-12, in Little Elm ISD.

Team members include Leah Allman, 3rd grade; Eva Jones, 3rd grade; Mikayla Ball, 4th grade; Jevin Henson, 5th grade; and Lexis Jones, 5th grade.
