Little Elm ISD has announced the Lobo ColLEgiate Academy (LCA) beginning the fall of 2020. LCA is a cohort of selected Little Elm High School students who will participate in extensive dual credit coursework through North Central Texas College (NCTC), beginning in the freshman year of high school, with the goal of being "core complete" upon high school graduation. Students accepted into the academy will be expected to earn up to 50 hours of dual credit. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board requires all undergraduate students in Texas public higher education institutions complete 42 semester credit hours of core curriculum.
The difference between LCA and what is offered now at Little Elm High School is the selected cohort of students will learn from NCTC professors and the 50 hours of dual credit will transfer to any Texas public education institution.
"This is an incredible opportunity for our students," said Daniel Gallagher, superintendent. "We pride ourselves with helping our kids become college, career, and life ready and by adding the Lobo Collegiate Academy - we are setting our students up for success for life after high school."
Parent meetings about the LCA begin in September of 2019 for students classified as 8th grade and 9th grade. To learn more about the Lobo ColLEgiate Academy, visit www.littleelmisd.net/LCA.
