LEHS Senior Service Day Makes Worldly Impact

For the third year in a row, seniors had a chance to give back to their community through the Little Elm High School Senior Day of Service. LEHS principal Renee Pentecost was excited to know that 74 seniors made a worldly impact. "We have worked really hard to find community partners. We have had students help with trail clean up around the town, some have helped with Habitat for Humanity, and others have volunteered for Christian Community Action in the resale shop," said Pentecost. "But this particular activity with Feed My Starving Children, our students made a difference beyond our community."

Feed My Starving Children is a Christian, non-profit organization committed to feeding starving children in third-world countries. The work LEHS students completed on Wednesday was enough to pack 89 boxes of food, which is equivalent to 19,223 meals that can feed 53 children in one year.

The LEHS Senior Day of Service is a day where seniors go out and volunteer to help their community. It is the same day sophomores and juniors are taking the PSAT test and all freshmen are touring colleges on the Freshman College Tours.

"I think it's always good when kids give back to their community, because I am sure at one point in their lives, someone has done something nice for them," said Megan Heller, LEHS testing coordinator. "I received an email from Feed My Starving Children and they talked about how fantastic the students were and how kind, respectful, and generous they were. They invited us back out to serve again in March."
