Annual Clean and Green Protects Environment and Encourages Recycling

The Town of Little Elm is once again hosting its bi-annual Clean and Green event, and giving you a chance to clean out the garage and cross it off of your to-do list and help the environment, too! Residents are encouraged to participate in this FREE event to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators, prevent pollution and lessen greenhouse gas emissions. Your participation can help to sustain the environment for future generations!

This fall’s Clean and Green event is on Saturday, October 13, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Public Works Service Center at 1600 Mark Tree Lane, Little Elm. The event is open to residents of the Town, and participants must bring a current Little Elm water bill and photo identification to enter.

Residents are encouraged to drop off their household hazardous waste products, such as:

  • Drain cleaners
  • Paint and stain
  • Motor oil
  • Antifreeze
  • Fuel and gasoline
  • Poisons, pesticides, and rodenticides
  • Weed killer
  • Household cleaning products
  • Appliances (we will have the refrigerant removed for you)
  • Clothing/Textiles

During the event, residents will also have an opportunity to drop off consumer electronics, tires, car batteries, cooking oil and fluorescent light bulbs.

Note: Metal scrap recycling, tree shredding (mulch) services, and bulk/brush items will be received after the Clean and Green event has ended. The Courtesy Drop Site will open promptly at 12:00 p.m. at 1600 Brenda Lane for regular collection these items.

The Fall Clean and Green Event is also an opportunity for the Town to celebrate Arbor Day, a national event in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees. Keep Little Elm Beautiful will offer trees to participating residents, and each household could receive one free tree (3 gal/4-6 ft tall.) Tree supplies are limited, so be sure to come early with your items!
