College Ready. Career Ready. Life Ready.

Little Elm ISD's mission is to Engage, Equip, and Empower each student to realize their full potential. District leaders are always looking for new ways to help students and parents have a deeper understanding as to what that means with the new College, Career, and Life Ready Dashboard.

As a student progresses through high school, the college, career, and life ready indicators on the Dashboard show "complete" with a green check mark. If it is grey with an “x”, it means a student has not met the number of indicators to achieve that goal. For example, a student is considered College ready if they have met three out of four indicators, such as college-level classes, passed Algebra 2, maintained at least a 2.8 GPA, and participated in a college readiness placement assessment, such as ACT, SAT, or Texas Success Initiative. Parents and students can access the new tool in the student’s Focus Dashboard. Ross Roberts, deputy superintendent for Little Elm ISD, was excited to present the visuals to the Board of Trustees during Monday’s regular meeting. “We presented information about College, Career, Life Ready earlier this spring, and now we have something to show you. This is an important awareness piece we have created for our parents and students at the high school.”

Superintendent Daniel Gallagher added his remarks during the meeting, “This is an incredible communication tool, not just our students, but for parents. This will help start conversations about what courses student are taking and what they need to take to stay on track and achieve their goals.”

Little Elm ISD will equip students with the skills necessary to be competitive in the current and future job market by offering a broad range of relevant pathways, exposing every student to collegiate opportunities, building career connections, and enhancing life experiences. “We think this dashboard be a measurement of this very thing,” said Gallagher.

A committee of ten District administrators began researching nearly one year ago to define what it means to be college, career, and life ready at Little Elm ISD. Based on their research, they found these readiness indicators more accurately reflect the educational landscape of the 21st century. Multiple metrics that help developed the dashboard include Advanced Placement courses, Algebra II, early college credit, industry certifications, attendance, and community service. In addition to a student’s graduation plan, the College, Career, and Life Ready Dashboard can provide students with information and direction they can use to shape their high school experience.
