Community Input on Naming New Facilities

Last month, Little Elm ISD leaders streamlined facility naming procedures that would give the entire community a chance to offer their input when the District builds a new facility. "We know the importance of naming our facilities. We feel this allows every single community member a chance to voice their thoughts," said Daniel Gallagher, superintendent of Little Elm ISD.

The District created a "live form" document that lives on the communication page of the District's website. The form will remain active and live at all times. "The practice before was to have selective citizens serve on committees to offer input. What that creates is a limited situation," said Ross Roberts, deputy superintendent. "I reached out to different superintendents at different districts and found this to be the best solution that aligns with our CW local board policy," said Roberts.

Although the form will always remain live on the website, District administrators are making an official call for names for the two new middle schools and new transportation facility and giving a deadline for community input. The District will take name submissions for these three new facilities until Friday, April 13. All names submitted with be brought to the Board of Trustees, who by board policy, will decide the names of the facilities.
