In order to be considered for the Dual Language Program at Little Elm ISD, parents need to attend one of the two information meetings held in March. The first one is Wednesday, March 7 at 6:00 p.m. and Hackberry Elementary. The second meeting is on Wednesday March 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Oak Point Elementary. Families who attend one of the two meetings will receive an application for admission into the Dual Language Program. Remember, you child must be an incoming kindergartner for the 2018-2019 school year.
The Dual Language Program is an immersion program where native Spanish speakers and native English speakers receive content and language instruction in English and Spanish. Currently, this program is offered at three Little Elm ISD campuses: Hackberry Elementary, Oak Point Elementary, and Brent Elementary. The goal of the program is to have students bilingual by the time they are in fifth grade.
Because of the limited space at the three campuses where Dual Language is offered, only 22 native English speakers and 22 native Spanish speakers will be randomly chosen from the application pool. Spanish applicants will be tested to confirm a dominant language before the selection process.
