A thirty-day period of accepting applications from eligible individuals to fill two openings on the Little Elm Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors starts today.
“We have two positions coming up for appointment at the end of September,” says EDC Director Jennette Killingsworth. “Both are for regular three-year terms. These open positions are filled by individuals who are appointed by the Town Council.”
The Little Elm Economic Development Corporation is chartered by the State of Texas as a 4A Corporation, so named for the section of the enabling legislation that created the EDC structure at the municipal level. Its mission is to support the commercial growth in Little Elm.
Members of the EDC board are entrusted with the task of recruiting, retaining and entering into legal agreements with firms, companies, organizations and enterprises that serve to increase the local tax base and create jobs within Little Elm.
Chief among the EDC’s recent work is the successful enticement of retail, commercial and mixed use developments to the Little Elm Lakefront District. In addition to the highly successful Hula Hut restaurant, Hydrous Water Park, and Towers Tap House, the EDC has worked closely with developers of the Palladium’s upscale residential suites, along with a number of culinary and entertainment providers. While the businesses opening in the Lakefront District may be the most visible, the EDC has also worked closely with companies relocating to other areas within Little Elm.
Applications for the positions may be found on the Town of Little Elm website under the Boards, Commissions & Corporations page under the Government tab of the Town’s home page or by visiting: http://www.littleelm.org/64/Boards-Commissions-Corporations.
Interested individuals must have been residents of Little Elm for a minimum of one year, be of high moral character and be willing to devote time, effort, expertise and energy to the position.
Deadline for submitting applications for consideration is 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14. Individuals who qualify for consideration will undergo interviews with a panel which includes the Mayor, a member of the Town Council and the EDC President. Interviews will occur during the week of Sept. 18. Each qualifying applicant will be notified of their specific interview date and time by the EDC staff.
