Girls Operating as Leaders at Lakeside Middle School

GOAL at Lakeside Middle

On Thursday, the Girls Operating As Leaders (GOAL) club members met a few of their new mentors: Ana Lopez, Ericka Osorio, and Melissa Miranda. The young women are members of the Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. and students of Texas Woman's University and The University of North Texas. They have dedicated their time to support GOAL as their primary organization for community service. "It was amazing to watch our girls engage in team building," said Gina Armstrong, AVID teacher at Lakeside Middle School. "The club members learned how important it is to be polite and attentive. In addition to building relationships, it's important to influence the culture at LMS."

The mentors will meet with the GOAL club members each Monday after school to build relationships, offer a positive support system, while spending time sharing with them the qualities of successful young women.
